This is a Long Island, NY based, recovery focused, non profit website for girls and women, from all backgrounds, who are suffering from anorexia, bulimia, or compulsive overeating. This website is also for the parents, other family members, and friends. No money or donations are collected. The foundation of the Activate Life website is the Bible. No religion is preached however there is a statement of faith which gives the overview of beliefs in general.
I choose to focus on LIFE, not to remain focused on the darkness. I do not discuss the eating disordered behavior, thoughts, and rituals at all on this website. I also don't get into the psychiatric classification and definition of each of the eating disorders, nor do I discuss any of the possible causes. There are hundreds of other websites which come up in search results that have that information.

However I will do my best to respond honestly and openly from my own experiences and knowledge base, focusing on the perspective of what the Bible says.
Yes, on this website I only address women, and mainly focusing on young women and their parents. I realize that there are some men who suffer from eating disorders, but I can only speak from the heart about what I know from the heart. Compulsive overeating affects a wider population however anorexia and bulimia usually begin in pre teen and teen girls. Recovery can and does happen at any time, but the best time is in the young before it has become a lifetime.

I am a bulimia/compulsive overeater conquerer. I am also a born again Jewish follower of Christ, wife to a wonderful husband (who is also a born again Jewish follower of Christ), mom to two terrific teens, a small business owner, college graduate, and a bible student. I am not a licensed counselor or therapist. I spent time focusing on psychology and then turned my attention to learning about what the Bible says.
One cannot serve two masters, God and the world. In the Old Testament, Abram (later renamed Abraham), chose the narrow road by trusting God with his future. Lot was a double minded man, concerned with outward appearances and things of the world. The differences between them were played out and contrasted in Genesis 18-19. And in Luke 16:13 it says, "No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other..."
Each day it is a conscious decision, a choice made in awareness, to serve God rather than serve "the world" in an obsession with food and appearance.
Current day, I choose to eat "FOR LIFE".
