Anorexia Recovery & Cure - Anorexia Treatment That Works!
Anorexia Recovery & Cure: I apologize in advance here because the following question is blunt and direct, yet asking it is absolutely CRUCIAL to anorexia treatment and recovery. This simply is too serious to mince words or to sugarcoat it with niceties.
Do you want to live, or are you looking to die?
I'm not trying to be mean or to go the scare tactic route. I'm sure that many have done that with you already. I'm just giving you some facts and then moving onto what YOU can DO to ACTIVATE LIFE. YOUR LIFE! It is completely your choice.
I'm not saying you are to do this all alone. However you do have free will so you DO have choices to make and work to do. Anorexia recovery is a PROCESS and will not happen overnight. It will take time, patience, and a lot of love, self love. You are going to learn how to love YOURSELF the way God loves you! I don't know whether or not you believe in God first of all, and if you do, if you believe that He truly loves you, and just how deep that love is. That love surpasses even the most loving of human parents, relative, or friends.
Anorexia recovery begins with trusting a God that you cannot see, thus FAITH. And then, faith must turn into action; the actively changing your thoughts.
Now to some hard core facts. This is real, and whether or not you choose to believe it, I'm sorry, but yes, this CAN happen to you. ANOREXIA KILLS up to 20% of its long-term sufferers. It is a slow suicide. Anorexia nervosa takes an enormous toll on the body. It also has the highest death rate of any mental illness. Even for those who survive, the disorder can damage almost every body system.
The first victim of anorexia is often the bones. The disease usually develops in adolescence, right at the time when young people are supposed to be putting down the critical bone mass that will sustain them through adulthood. Such bone loss can set in as soon as six months after anorexic behavior begins, and is one of the most irreversible complications of the disease leading to osteoporosis. That disease results in bones that fracture very easily. Any bone can be affected, but of special concern are fractures of the hip and spine. A hip fracture can impair a person's ability to walk unassisted and may cause prolonged or permanent disability or even death. Spinal or vertebral fractures also have serious consequences, including loss of height, severe back pain, and deformity.
But the most life-threatening damage is usually the havoc wreaked on the heart. As the body loses muscle mass, it loses heart muscle even more rapidly, so the heart gets smaller and weaker. Your pulse and your blood pressure get lower. The heart damage can kill you in an instant, almost without warning.
It can have long term consequences on your ability to become pregnant. Many young women who begin eating a severely restricted diet stop menstruating well before serious weight loss sets in. And even among women who have fully recovered from their anorexia, there may be a slightly higher rate of miscarriages and caesarean sections.
Cognitive impairment (clouded or distorted perception or thinking, difficulty concentrating, difficulty comprehending) is another serious side effect.
Do you want to get well?
For 38 years the invalid at the Sheep gate pool hadn’t been able to get into the miracle waters. He felt helpless and sorry for himself. He expected someone to fix his problem. John 5:5-9 says One who was there had been an invalid for
thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, "Do you want to get well?" "Sir," the invalid replied, "I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred.
While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me." Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. It was up to this man to become motivated and to take
responsibility for himself.
