Who Does God Say I Am?

1. I am created by God. Everything is created by God. Not only did God create everything, but He created everything else before He created me and you. He made the earth for us and He made us for His pleasure. (Genesis 1:1, Genesis 5:2, Isaiah 45:18)

2. I am not a mistake, an accident, or a by chance morphing of lifeless matter. (
Genesis 1:26). God made us in His image, what does that do for your self-image? That should humble us and improve our value quite a bit.

3. I am God’s child
and He treasures me. (James 1:18)

4. I am unique and special.
(Psalm 139:13) I am made like I am for a reason and God wants me to be who I am.

5. God made me to represent Him.
(Psalm 8:5-6)

6. God has set me apart to be used by Him.
(Genesis 1:27, Colossians 3:12). We are Holy through Jesus Christ. That means we have been set apart to do God’s work. Is that not incredible? How does that change the way one goes about doing life? What a great privilege and responsibility. However God made you, what ever you look like or what talents you have, as a Christ-follower, you are set apart to do God’s work.

7. God loves me so much, He sacrificed Jesus to save me and make me new.
(1 Peter 1:18-19). I have always been told that something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. How awesome is that? You are so valuable, Jesus was willing to die for you.

8. God takes up residence in me.
That’s right, the Holy Spirit lives in a Christ-follower. (1 Corinthians 6:19)  He guides me, counsels me, comforts me, helps me to think like Him. He gives me the power to follow Him from the inside.

9. God has a plan for me.
(Ephesians 2:10) I have been reborn spiritually and God has a plan for me. To start with, His plan is for me to be with Him forever. Eventually that will be in Heaven. In the meantime, He has given me a purpose as I live for Him. Humans have within them a great need for a purpose. Midlife crisis is an example of a life without purpose. Whatever our age, God has a plan for us. He won’t write it on the wall. We just go forward in obedience to His commands and it will be laid out before us as we go. The good and the bad will go towards our purpose. Isn’t that awesome and fulfilling to know?

10. My future is bright. (Ephesians 1:10) I know sometimes we think, Lord take me out of here. Or Lord, make everything better. Oh He will.

11. Have hope. Live with a purpose. Know you are loved more than you could ever possibly imagine.
Trust in God and live for Him and He will do more in and with your life than you could ever imagine. (Ephesians 3:20)

I hope today and every day you are blessed.
