Eating Disorder Recovery - Renew Your Mind
Nothing will change in your life unless you begin the process of renewing your mind, or changing the way your mind operates.
This is because your body is still being controlled by your mind. Your body does what your mind tells it to do. Renewing your mind is the same thing as changing your mindset, and it is this renewing of the mind that lets a person have brand new attitudes, goals, ideals, opinions, desires, and ideas.
You will stumble and make mistakes. You are human. Apologize to God and try again! He wants you to succeed. I want you to succeed. Those people in your life who love you and who care about you want you to succeed. YOU
have to WANT to succeed.
Here's what God says about our thoughts.
Deuteronomy 30:19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.Psalm 42:5 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him,
my Savior.
Psalm 91:13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.
Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Isaiah 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Matthew 8:13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour.
Mark 4:24 "Consider carefully what you hear," he continued. "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more.
Luke 4:18-19 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
John 8:31-32 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
John 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 12:16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
James 1:4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
If you have chosen to be born again, you have told God that you really and truly want to change your life around. Being born again tells God that you no longer want to follow the world but that from now on you want to follow Him. It is here that God gives you a new heart and the Holy Spirit begins the work in you. You MUST do your part.
READ scriptures, STUDY scriptures, MEDITATE on scriptures. IMMERSE yourself in the Bible, God's Word to us. THAT is where you will
learn THE TRUTH, about who God is and about WHO YOU ARE! As your immerse yourself, the Holy Spirit will do the work of renewing your mind. HOWEVER, you will still face trials and temptations, and that is when YOU MUST make that conscious
choice to go God's way and not your own way.
Romans 12:1-2 tells us what we must do after we become born again believers. "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not
conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
God gives you a brand new Godly heart, as it tells us in the following verse:
Ezekiel 36:26-27. "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.".
It is when you combine that new heart with a brand new mindset that you will have awesome and incredible Godly changes taking place in your life. You need to give entire life over to God. That means giving to Him complete control over your body, heart, soul, and mind. In order to do that you must stay in contact with
Him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Everything you do has to go through and be approved by God. Whatever you want to do, first ask Him his opinion. Through the Holy Spirit (your new conscience) He will talk to your heart
and mind. He will talk to your moral fiber. He will talk to your character. He will talk to that part of you that wants to lead a Godly life. He will talk very loud and very clearly to everything that goes into making you a child of God.
You are human and at times you will fall back into old ways of thinking and old behaviors. When you do, talk to God about it immediately. Ask Him to help you analyze why you did what you did and ask Him to help strengthen you for the next
time. God FORGIVES YOU when you make a mistake and apologize to Him! God sees your heart, the effort you are putting into growing to be more and more like Him.
